Discovery

Discovery is a popular early-season dessert apple producing attractive red-flushed fruit with crisp, juicy flesh. 

It's refreshing sweet-tart flavour with subtle strawberry notes makes it an excellent fresh eating apple.

Origins / Notes

Raised in Essex in 1949, Discovery is believed to be a seedling of Worcester Pearmain, possibly pollinated by Beauty of Bath. It quickly became one of the most widely grown early dessert apples in Britain due to its colour, flavour, and reliability.

Good resistance to apple scab and powdery mildew.

Early harvest season, typically August to early September.

Storage

Stores well for up to 4 weeks in cold storage. Best eating window is from harvest through early autumn while flesh remains crisp and flavours bright and fresh.
