Elaeagnus Umbellata

Elaeagnus Umbellata, commonly known as Autumn Olive, is a fast-growing deciduous shrub valued for its distinctive silvery foliage and sweetly fragrant, creamy-yellow spring flowers and edible berries that ripen in autumn.

As a nitrogen-fixing plant, it thrives in poor or exposed soils, making it a popular choice for hedging, windbreaks and wildlife planting. Berries are also attractive fodder for birds.

Fruiting & Harvest Time

Flowers appear late spring to early summer, followed by egg-shaped fruit that ripens to a speckled red in early autumn, typically September–October.

Size of Shrub

A vigorous, bushy shrub reaching approximately 4–8m in height and spread at maturity, taking around 5–10 years to reach full size.

The plants will be 20-30cm when delivered.

Please note that all our plants are grown bareroot, so will only be lifted once dormant season starts, around early November.
