Le Bret is a traditional Norman cider apple, also grown historically in Devon, valued for producing structured bitter-sharp cider used in classic blends.

It is best suited to traditional cider orchards where fruit is processed quickly after harvest.

Origins / Notes

Originating in Normandy, France, Le Bret has long been used in cider production and was introduced into Devon during the mid-1900s. It remains a specialist cider variety used in traditional orchard systems.

Very late season, typically November.

Storage

Does not store well and should be used soon after harvest. Best pressing window is immediately after picking to preserve acidity and tannin structure.
