Llanerchaeron Peach

Llanerchaeron Peach is a rare Welsh dessert apple discovered in the walled garden of the Llanerchaeron Estate.

It is an unusual and recently recorded heritage variety, notable for its peach-like colouring and limited known distribution.

Origins / Notes

Discovered in the walled garden at Llanerchaeron Estate in Wales. The original historical name is unknown, and the variety was officially registered under its current name in 2022 by the Marcher Apple Network.

The National Trust has helped preserve the variety through propagation from original trees, with only a small number of known surviving locations.

Disease Resistance

Insufficient long-term data available due to its recent rediscovery, though early observations suggest reasonable field resilience under UK orchard conditions.

Mid to late season, typically September to October.

Storage

Moderate keeping apple.

Best eaten fresh, with a short storage window where flavour and texture remain at their best, typically up to around 1–2 months in cool storage.
