Lord Lambourne is a classic heritage dessert apple producing sweet-tart, aromatic fruit with juicy, slightly coarse flesh.

It is excellent for fresh eating and also works well for juicing.

Origins / Notes

Developed by the Laxton Brothers Nursery in Bedfordshire in the early 1900s. It was named after the President of the Royal Horticultural Society in 1923 and is a cross between James Grieve and Worcester Pearmain.

Resistant to apple scab.

Harvesting Season

Early to mid-season, typically August to September.

Storage

Keeps for around 1 month after harvest.

Best eating window is immediately after picking through early autumn when flavour is brightest and texture remains crisp.
