Major is a traditional West Country cider apple originating from South Devon.
It produces a quality bittersweet cider with low acidity, aromatic juice, and a soft astringency that makes it highly valued in traditional cider making.

Origins / Notes
Originated in South Devon and was once commonly grown in the farm orchards of Devon and Somerset. It became an important traditional cider variety due to its balanced bittersweet character and reliable cider-making qualities.

Generally considered a hardy traditional cider variety with good orchard performance.

Harvesting Season
Late season, typically October to early November.
Storage
Best used within 2 weeks of harvest. The ideal pressing window is shortly after picking, while the fruit retains its aromatic character and balanced bittersweet profile.
