Tidicombe Seedling is a charming Devon dessert apple producing juicy, sweet fruit with a pleasantly tart balance.

Well flavoured and mildly aromatic, it is particularly suited to exposed and damp growing conditions.

Origins / Notes

Found growing as a seedling in the garden of Tidicombe Farm near Barnstaple, Devon, in 1978. The variety was later rediscovered and propagated by Thornhayes Nursery during the 1990s, helping to preserve this distinctive local apple.

Disease Resistance

Generally regarded as a robust variety with good tolerance of damp and exposed growing conditions.

Harvesting Season

Mid to late season, typically September to October.

Storage

Moderate keeping qualities. Best eating window is from harvest through late autumn, when the fruit retains its juicy texture and balanced flavour.
