Trwyn Mochyn, meaning “Pig Snout” in Welsh, is a traditional Welsh apple valued for both cooking and fresh eating.
Its distinctive shape, excellent keeping qualities, and rich heritage have made it a favourite on Anglesey for centuries.

Origins / Notes
Long grown on Anglesey, Wales, and first recorded during the 1600s.
Traditionally, the fruit was cooked into a richly flavoured, slightly perfumed purée requiring only a little added sugar. Wrapped in pastry and baked, it was commonly eaten as dumplings by agricultural workers in the fields.
Disease Resistance
Generally regarded as a hardy traditional Welsh orchard variety with good overall resilience.

Late season, typically October.
Storage
Keeps for several months after harvest. Best eating window extends from late autumn through winter, when the flavour mellows and develops into an excellent brisk dessert apple.
