William Crump

William Crump is an outstanding heritage dessert apple producing richly flavoured fruit with a distinctive pineapple-like character.

Valued for quality over quantity, it develops even greater flavour after a period in storage.

Origins / Notes

Raised in Worcestershire during the early 1900s by William Crump, head gardener at Madresfield Court.

It is a cross between Cox's Orange Pippin and Worcester Pearmain, combining the rich flavour of both parents into a distinctive heritage dessert apple prized for its eating quality.

Disease Resistance

Generally regarded as a healthy and reliable orchard variety with good overall vigour.

Late season, typically September to October.

Storage

Keeps for up to 3 months in cold storage, with flavour continuing to improve after harvest.

Best eating window is from autumn through early winter, when its rich aromatic qualities and pineapple-like notes become more pronounced.
