Yarlington Mill

Yarlington Mill is one of England's classic bittersweet cider apples, prized for producing richly aromatic cider with soft, rounded tannins and good natural sugar levels.

It remains one of the most widely planted traditional cider varieties in the UK.

Origins / Notes

Discovered as a wild seedling near a water mill in Yarlington, Somerset, during the late 1800s.

The tree had established itself amongst boulders near the mill and was subsequently propagated due to the exceptional quality of its cider. 

It later became widely grown throughout Somerset and remains a cornerstone of traditional cider making.

Late season, typically October to early November.

Storage

Best used within approximately 2 weeks of harvest. The ideal pressing window is shortly after picking, while the fruit retains its characteristic balance of sugars, tannins, and aroma.
